William A. Webb


William A. (Bill) Webb served for fourteen years as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Judge Webb has comprehensive expertise in the areas of employment law, federal regulations and procedure, and federal appeals.

Judge Webb graduated summa cum laude, first in his class, from the University of New Haven where he received the university’s third annual distinguished alumni award. He was awarded his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Judge Webb began his distinguished legal career as an assistant district attorney in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rising in the office to prosecuting homicide cases. From there, he went on to serve as senior staff counsel on the U. S. House of Representative’s Select Committee on Assassinations. Returning to Pittsburgh, Judge Webb became an assistant U.S. Attorney and then deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania and director of the Western Region. Judge Webb was nominated by President Reagan and confirmed by the United States Senate as a commissioner of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C., where he served with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Judge Webb serves a member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference​; a member of the Federal Bar Association; a member of the American Law Institute; chairman of the N.C. Dispute Resolution Commission; former co-chair of the North Carolina Commission on the Adjudication of Law; and is a former member of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.

Judge Webb has extensive experience as an arbitrator and mediator.  He honed his skills as a neutral while serving as a litigator, a judge, and an EEOC commissioner. He treats every case entrusted to him with the time, attention, and patience you demand.
